Spring Tour 2020

13 maart 2020

In March 2020, Jong Metropole held a Spring Tour for the first time. The project was led by the principal conductor of the Metropole Orchestra Jules Buckley and named: Jong Metropole plays Snarky Puppy. The orchestra members played a programme based on the music of fusion jazz collective Snarky Puppy, which stands for energetic and raw jazz, soul, hip-hop, R&B and funk of the highest level. The programme arose due to the successful collaboration between Snarky Puppy and the Metropole Orchestra, who jointly won a Grammy with the album Sylva. Jamison Ross, Snarky's drummer (also a good singer) and other Snarky Puppy members flew to the Netherlands to coach the Jong Metropole musicians during the rehearsal week and introduce them to the real Snarky Puppy feeling.

Concerts were planned in Theaters Tilburg, Hilversum (private), Paradiso Amsterdam and TivoliVredenburg Utrecht, but unfortunately on the eve of the first performance all concerts were cancelled due to COVID-19. On 13 March, the night that the first performance was due to take place, the concert was livestreamed from the studio of the Metropole Orchestra in Hilversum:
