Video auditions

It may happen that live auditions are not possible. In that case you will, as musician, be asked to prepare for a video audition. On the Audition Information page you can check whether application for auditions is currently possible and whether they will be held live or require video uploads.

What to play?

If you want to audition and you meet the conditions (see Audition & musicians), you must first register via our Application Portal. You can then upload two videos if you are logged into your account in the portal. Musicians are asked to record one video with all orchestra excerpts in the exact order in which they are listed in the Orchestra excerpts list. The orchestral fragments must be recorded consecutively in one take and may not be edited or modified. In a second video, you should record the first five minutes (approximately) of the solo piece of your choice from the Solo pieces list. Candidates for trombone, saxophone, trumpet and the rhythm section should record a standard of their choice (see also the solo pieces list for more information). The solo piece or standard must also be recorded in one take and may not be edited or changed. We recommend that you make your recording of the solo piece or standard with piano accompaniment or audio track (except harpists and percussionists).

How to record en upload your video

You can use any recording device at your disposal, as long as you record the orchestral pieces consecutively and in one take (and don't edit or change the recording afterwards). You should record the solo work in a different take. The videos should then be uploaded to YouTube as 'hidden' (make sure not to choose 'private'). Make separate links to the video recording of the orchestral pieces and to the recording of the solo piece.

Submit the two videos by adding the links to your personal account in the login portal (see Instructions), following the steps below:

  1. Log in into your personal JM portal (user name = your email address)
  2. Go to 'Musical data'
  3. Go to 'Application'
  4. Click on registration for Jong Metropole
  5. Choose 'Edit'
  6. Add the links in the appropriate boxes
  7. Click on 'Save and stop editing'
