Conductor
Jules Buckley
The English Jules Buckley is the principal conductor of the Metropole Orchestra. As composer, arranger and conductor he is a musical innovator who pushes the boundaries of musical genres with some of the most important and credible names in music today. He has collaborated with musicians such as Emili Sandé, multi instrumentalist José James, Fink, Massive Attack, Arctic Monkeys, Caro Emerald, Cinematic Orchestra, Beardyman and Dizzy Rascal. He conducts and arranges for the most diverse line-ups: from string quartet to symphony orchestra and from big band to theater productions. After his studies in London, he was one of the founders of The Heritage Orchestra, a flexible chamber orchestra that seeks collaborations and crossovers and keeps orchestral tradition in the cellar.

Jules has earned himself a reputation as a pioneering genre alchemist and agitator of musical convention, being one of the reasons why he and the Metropole Orchestra and Jong Metropole work so well together. In 2013 Jules won a Grammy with the Metropole Orkest and Snarky Puppy for their joint album Sylva.
Jules Buckley led Jong Metropole during the Spring Tour in 2020 and in 2016.
