Jong Metropole is touring the Netherlands this summer with a symphonic jazz & pop program. The orchestra, consisting of conservatoire students from both the jazz and the classical field, does this under the direction of conductor, composer, arranger and pianist Jochen Neuffer, for whom Berlin is his home base. Multitalent on the sax Kika Sprangers performs as a soloist with Jong Metropole: a great combination since Sprangers herself took part as leader of the saxophone section during the very first edition of the orchestra in 2015, as shown in the photo at the top of this page!
Kika Sprangers and Damiano Pascarelli about Reunion
The programme includes the work Reunion by Damiano Pascarelli, specially composed for Jong Metropole and Kika Sprangers. This young composer, arranger and conductor won the Rogier van Otterloo Award in 2019, which allowed him to take lessons with Vince Mendoza in Los Angeles and write this commissioned composition in corona lockdown.
For more information about this programme, see the page Reunion (Summer Tour).

The performances of Jong Metropole will take place between 2 and 8 August 2021 during the NJO Muziekzomer Gelderland festival. The concert scheduled for 10 August during the international youth orchestra festival Young Euro Classic in Berlin has unfortunately been canceled due to the travel restrictions surrounding COVID-19.
Please note: although we do our utmost to organise a nice summer tour, it may still be the case that changes in programme, location and/or dates will follow due to COVID-19 measures. We will inform you about this best we can on this website and on our social media (Facebook and Instagram).
Reunion is made possible by the Keep an Eye Foundation and Prins Bernhard Cultuurfonds. The concert in Nijmegen is made possible through a gift from the Municipality of Nijmegen.
NB1 The concert in Skydeck (Teuge) is only accessible with a corona test certificate. Read about how this works on Corona & your safety on the website of the NJO Summer Festival (Dutch only) or on Coronacheck.nl, a Dutch Government website (English).
NB2 Due to the recent flooding and the inundation of the Waalkade, the concert in Nijmegen has been moved from the Kaaij to the Jan Massinkhal, Nieuwe Dukenburgseweg 5 in Nijmegen. If you have a ticket for this concert, you have also received an email about this.
